After one and a half years of gradual designing, building and general evolution of the idea and concept, I have finished my Harmonic Healing Therapy Bed.

Inspired by a similar bed I experienced in Australia a few years ago, it is based on the principle of vibroacoustics. That is, beds or chairs that transmit sound vibrations directly to the person lying or sitting on them. Such beds are used worldwide in sound therapy applications, and generally transmit recorded music and sounds through them to relax, sooth and heal.

My Harmonic Therapy Bed is constructed of recycled Rimu, and is very different in that it has 27 piano strings under the it's length that are all tuned to one note (F for the Heart Chakra). While the client is lying on the bed I gently stroke and sounds the strings, virtually "playing" the intuitively guided sounds particular to that person. The strings all sound together forming a magical mix of overtones that sing out and creat an extremely relaxing vibrational space that the person can let themselves float into. The sound waves have a powerful balancing effect on the vibrational energy systems of the body, and generally induce a deep calming effect.

During a sound therapy session I also introduce other sounds, that may include Native American Flute, Overtone singing, Tibetan Bowls, Gongs, and other live instruments that are well known for their healing and heart opening effects. The Bed also has a built in a Zither (Finnish Kantele) instrument that allows delicate and melodic higher tones above the beautiful bass "Om" of the piano strings. All in all this is a profoundly relaxing and stress relieving inner journey.

If you would like to have the totally unique experience of a sound therapy session with the Harmonic Healing Therapy bed, then please contact me on 021 1419439. An hours session is $80 inclusive GST. Sessions are available at present on Waiheke Island, Auckland, but may be available in other centers in the future.
